Civicomp CC respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect on this website, why, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Information we collect
When you send an enquiry or request a quote we collect what you type into the form: your name, your email address, your telephone number if you give it, your message, and which product or service the enquiry relates to.
When you contact us on WhatsApp we receive your WhatsApp number and the content of your messages. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and is subject to Meta’s own privacy terms.
When you browse the site we collect standard analytics information: the pages you view, roughly how long you spend on them, your device and browser type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you arrived — including whether you came from one of our advertisements.
We do not ask for or store identity numbers, banking details or payment card information anywhere on this website.
How we use it
We use your enquiry to respond to you, prepare estimates and quotes, arrange demonstrations or delivery, and keep a record of the correspondence for warranty and support purposes. These are necessary to conclude or perform a contract with you (POPIA s11(1)(b)) and fall within our legitimate interests (s11(1)(f)).
We use analytics to understand which pages and which advertisements actually lead to enquiries, so that we do not waste money advertising to the wrong people. This is a legitimate interest (s11(1)(f)).
We follow up with information about the products you enquired about on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. We do not send marketing to people who have not contacted us.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for site analytics and advertising measurement. You can review and change your choices at any time using the Manage consent link on any page, and the full list is on our Cookie Policy page.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it with:
- Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), to understand how the site is used and to measure the results of our advertising. We have accepted Google’s Data Processing Terms, and we have switched off sharing your analytics data with other Google products.
- Meta Platforms, for WhatsApp messages you send us and for measuring the results of advertising we run on Facebook and Instagram.
- Our website host and email provider, who store the site and deliver your enquiry to our inbox.
We do not otherwise disclose your information, except where the law requires it.
Information sent outside South Africa
Google and Meta process information on servers outside South Africa. POPIA (s72) permits this where the recipient is bound by rules providing an adequate level of protection; both contract on standard data-protection terms intended to meet that requirement.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure. Enquiries and quote correspondence are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them for the business relationship, and thereafter for the period required by law. Analytics information is retained by Google according to the retention period set on our account. You may ask us to delete your enquiry sooner.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date or unlawfully obtained; object to processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent at any time; and complain to the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these, email info@civicomp.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to confirm your identity first.
